Torque and quarter mile
First off I know a Dakota nor any truck stock is meant to be racing. Got a few questions though.
How much torque ft-lb does the stock 93 5.2L magnum produce.
One of my relatives didn't think his suv was fast by any means but he thought his 180hp V6 05 Chevy Equinox could beat my 230hp V8 93 Dodge Dakota in a quarter mile race.
We looked up some quarter mile times on the interent, and the V8 dakota was around 16.2, and his equinox was around 16.8.
And the 0-60 times were fairly close also.
I wouldn't have been suprised if his was an 05 coupe V6, but his mid-size chevy equinox can't be that much lighter than my 2wd ext cab dakota.
Was just wondering if the 16.2 quarter mile time sounds right for our V8 trucks? (probably an irrevelant question to many, but i kinda got discouraged after looking up the times)

Ya 16-17 sec. for the 1/4 mile sounds right for the 5.2 Magnum. You should be able to pull out good. You should be lighter.
The HP and TQ numbers are in the FAQ in this section.
5.2L MPFI 230HP 290TQ 1992-1993
When you do race, leave your spare tire, tailgate and any junk you have inside your truck at home.
Don't forget to power brake it. Which means you press the brake with one foot then hold the gas as high as you can with the other.
And take off when you see the last yellow light light up. By the time you take off it will be green. It the oldest trick to get the best reaction time.
For the shifts you can manually switch it up with the selector if it doesn't shift good enough for you. Or you can mess with the TV cable before the race and find the spot you like.

Depends, what exactly is your truck? What cab/bed, 2wd, 4wd?
My 5.2 5 speed club cab 4x4 gets the 1/4 done in 16.2 with the mods I have, shifting hard and launching in 4wd to boot. I'd expect teh same truck as mine with an auto to be in the higher 16s, bring on 2wd and a reg cab short bed I'm sure it's close to mine. The 5.2 5 speed reg cab short bed 2wds will knock down mid to high 14s stock.. Here's one with very basic stuff knocking down a 14.1, pretty impressive IMO...
