Default New Here

I’ve been reading this forum for about 2 years and finally decided to post a hello. I’ve owned a 93 Dakota 4x4 since it was new and restored it about 2 years ago. When I started the restore the truck had 216,000 miles on it and was still running pretty good. I decided to go ahead and put a 360 in it after getting some advice from Crazy 4x4. Thanks a bunch Crazy, even though I’d be surprised if you remember the couple of messages we exchanged.

The truck is a club cab, originally had a 318, 46rh tranny, 4x4 and has a 3.9 positrack rear end. The 360 that went in came out of a 2003 Durango and I put a Mopar performance cam in it, Fastman throttle body, double roller timing chain, Mopar performance computer for a 360 and redid the exhaust with a high flow cat and muffler. I also rebuilt the Trans and upgraded it, put a 2300-2500 stall converter in, redid the transfer case, ac system, power steering system, electic fan, paint and new carpet and upholstery in the interior. All of the mechanical work was done by myself and a friend. I had someone else do the paint and the interior work.
I picked up a lot of really useful info from this forum, so I'd like to say thanks to all of you and hello.
I tried to attach a picture of the truck, hopefully it works.

Nice! Looks good. Your welcome, I'm glad it all worked out.

Now we need more pics, front sides, engine. And don't forget the donuts and 0-60 videos.

Also what year or part number of the computer did you get? According to the Mopar performance catalog, the only 5.9 is 94-95. And those are slightly different then the 93's.

Thanks. Crazy – The performance computer is for a 94-95 ram with a 360. Your right, they didn’t have one for 1993. I ran the truck for about a month with the stock computer. When I plugged in the performance computer is was like the difference between night and day. Between the cam and the fuel mapping for a 318, the stock computer didn’t run the engine well at all. I’ll post up a part number for you later. The only thing I’ve noticed with running the 94-95 computer in a 93 is it throws a soft code (no check engine light) for the transmission temperature sensor. That makes sense since a 93 doesn’t have a trans temperature sensor.

I have three other pics but I can't figure out how to post them. When I tried to attach them it said I didn't have room??

Oh okay, I guess Rams had a transmission temperature sensor. The Dakotas didn't. The other issue I can see coming up is the speed sensor. The 93-down is cable. The 94-up is computer controlled. So the cruise control or the OD or the TCC may not work properly since it is a different sensor with a different programing. Have you had any issues with the OD or TCC or Cruise Control system?

For pics.\To upload pictures.

You can create a photo album on this site, Go to "User CP" (Control panel). Near the top of each page in the black strip.

Or you can do a 3rd party website like www.photobucket.com or www.tinypic.com and use the photo link that uses the [IMG] tags.

Or upload it to the post by going to the "Go Advance" post tab next to "post reply" at the bottom then to "Manage Attachments" near the bottom. Then "Browse". Find th picture on your computer files. Then Upload!

The speed sensor on my transfer case is a combo with a cable and a pigtale connector that provides the computer with speed info. Check your speedometer housing to see if you have both a cable and pigtale connecting to it. Overdrive and lockup work perfect as does the cruise control. For me it was a plug and go.

I'll try working on posting the Pic's on monday.

Yes mine has both cable and electrical. But I was just wondering if the sufficient. But I guess you proved it is good enough.

I uploaded the three other pics I had to a photo album. The part number for the performance computer I'm running is P5249546. I paid 222.60 about 2 years ago. The cam I put in is not that radical. 467/482 lift and 276/278 duration. The part number was P5007551. Even though Mopar recommends changing valve springs with this cam several people told me I was OK up to a 480 lift. So far it looks like they where right, the stock springs have been fine.
