94 Auto Trans. Help Please
No, it will not work, unfortunately.
In 1996, when these trucks (and every other vehicle) switched over to OBDII, they started down the road to making everything computer controlled, and they took out the mechanical governor valve and replaced it with an electric one in these transmissions. Your computer has no control over that valve, so the transmission won't function.
You need to look for '95 and older.
Also, I don't feel like going back and reading every post in this thread, so in case it wasn't mentioned yet, you don't have to limit yourself to the a500 (42rh), you can use an a518 (46rh) as well... the one behind the v8s. It will bolt up fine to your bellhousing and function the same. It just has slightly different gear ratios.

The 46rh will work fine but I still think you should check the speedometer and speed sensor connections on the overdrive section. My 1993 has no hole for a speed sensor, just the speedometer housing. You may need both in 1994. Check your truck and make sure its the same on the junkyard unit.
