Default Junkyard Parts

Hi all, I am new to the forum and was just wondering if anyone has done a write-up on junkyard parts for the first gen kota. Even a simple list of common "swap" parts and what vehicles they can be pulled from. Did a quick search on the forum and didn't really come up with much...

Thanks all! Great forum!

Dave

you can get alot of the parts from a 2nd gen dakota, but not much else interchanges. you need to make it fit yourself.

thanks. I have also read that you can use some rear axles out of a f150 (not sure how true this is) and you can use some stuff from the ram line depending on how far you want to go to get it on there i am def open to doing whatever i need to get meh truck fixed up. I just bought it for a grand running and in great shape all things considered.

1992 2wd V6 3.9 Magnum Manual 5 speed standard cab short bed - I freakin love this truck!

Well it all depends on what SWAPS you are looking for Engines, Transmissions, Axles, Seats, Door handles?

For most things any Dakota 87-96 are the same. Some other parts will work from Rams, Durangos, Vans, Jeeps. Don't expect much to fit without some modification. Heck if you wanted you can make Chevy, Ford, Toyota parts fit. It all depends on what kind of parts your looking for!!!!

Yes you can use a rear axle out of a Ford. Just you may have to change brake line fittings, e-brake cable parts ect!!

well, engine wise, its a toss up at this point between the 440bb/727trans and the 307/powerglide i have lying around. i think the 440 would just be too much for the suspension and rear end and the 307 will no doubt take a ton of modification, but if i make the mounts for the 307, that means i can drop in any chevy smallblock i want really, and they are a dime a dozed around here. i do want to swap out the rear end/axle with a nice strong posi, swap the suspension out for something alot stronger and capable of handling much more power, im not really concerned with lifting or lowering it tbh. i really wouldnt mind throwing disk brakes on the back either. halfway thinking about making my own flatbed conversion as well, i just plain like it lol, no better logic for it...

Well the 440 will not go in easily, without welding ect. There are a few Big Block Dakotas. Check the FAQ2 in this section for links to the swaps. Ya it is a possibility to put in the 307 but not worth it in my opinion.

Big Block all the way. And send us tons of pics and a good write up on it.

The FAQ2 will be your best bet for any swaps, modification, performance.

I am kinda leaning towards the big block. For one, the mounts can be purchased at Magnum HP Inc. for only $325! Two, it's a friggin BIG BLOCK! Really don't need much more reasoning than that...Shamefully, there is a third reason, there is no way I'm gonna let my girlfriends hemi charger stay in front of me LMAO

Although, I am fairly worried about how much it will cost me to make the rest of the truck strong enough to handle the power.
