Default Starting problem

'93 5.2L

Ok so the other day I stop at the house real quick and turn off the engine. I get back in and turn the key and nothing happened. There is NO power going to the starter. I have cleaned and checked all my connections and they are all good now. I tried to turn the key again and nothing. I know its not the battery cause I tried it in my Jeep and works fine.

There is absolutely no clicking in the starter at all. I tried to tap on the starter and still nothing. Now I did notice that once in a while. I would have to mess with the column shift to get the thing to start but this time nada.

I'm leaning to thinking the neutral safety switch might have took a dump. Also, I did check the wire for the switch and its fine too.

Any idea's? I know we have some of the best knowledged guys here with the worst wired trucks on the planet. I love my truck but have been plagued with the FOR SALE blues.

Are the lights at least coming on on the dash?

If you want to test the P/N Safety switch, pull the harness off the switch, and take a peice of wire and ground the middle pin on the connector (just touch it to any bare metal). Then try to start the truck.

Yeah, everything is working. Its just when you turn the key there's nothing to the starter. Usually you hear the click of a dead battery not turning over the starter. But I mean there's nothing. But I will try what you suggested. But if that doesn't work. Would that mean the NSS is bad?

Just to make sure I'm looking at the right thing. Where is the location of the NSS on the 46rh trans?

If my test works (the truck starts), that means the P/N SS is bad. If my test does not work (no change), then there is no derivable conclusion from the test.

Here is a picture from the FSM...

if you have no power to the dash or anythign else i would say the starter went...i had the same problem last october i think. crazy4x4rt and 95 s318slt helped me out on that one. if it is the nss then you would at least have lights on the dash(or atleast i did when mine wasn't grounded) just no starter turn
