1994 Dakota 2wd auto...not starting...
First off, hello all, and what a fantastic site!!!!
ok, I have spent all day on this and am frustrated beyond calmness. I have a 1994 Dakota, 2wd, 3.9l automatic. Yesterday, my wife drove the truck, started fine, ran fine. The same old, same old. This morning I got up to go to work, turned the key...it fired up for all of 10 seconds, and stalled. I turned the key over again, and just continues to turn over and over. Here is what I have done....
I have spark..if I drop a teaspoon of gas into injector, the truck roars to life...so not getting fuel, but spark is good.
I removed the bed, and checked out the connection on the fuel pump. I had no readings on multimeter on 2 wires, and 6v on the third. So I came to the conclusion that no power was getting to fuel pump. I replaced the relays for the fuel pump and Asd, and the truck started right away. We put the canopy/ bed back on truck and I went to take it for a test drive. I turned the key, truck started but stalled after 10 seconds...back to where I started....
I have pulled all the tape off the wires under the relay box, and all connections are good..tested with multimeter...I plugged one end into relay box, and followed wires to other sides of splices..all where good and no corrosion was there. So..now what..
I have come to the conclusion that the wiring is good. I have spark, and the fuel pump also seems ok. Any ideas as to what else I can do? Someone else mentioned the crankshaft sensor..what does that do? and would it cause this issue? How hard is it to replace in a 1994 Dakota?
This issue came out of the blue, and we thought it was the fuel pump until the harness was tested and no power was making it there. I appreciate everyone who might help out on this. Thanks

Welcome to DodgeForum!
Lol, I can tell you must have spent some time reading through the FAQ page! You already tested my first several answers of possible causes.
The crankshaft position sensor tells the computer when to fire the ignition, so if you are getting spark, that sensor is fine.
Have you checked all fuses and ground connections? I'm with you, after reading your post, I'm rather lost for ideas, but I'll think about it for a while.

All fuses are good, both in the cab and under the hood. But I am unsure of where all the grounds might be. I have owned the truck for 2 years and next to regular oil changes, I have needed to do nothing to it. This is my first Dodge after years of being a Chevy guy, so it is a bit different...lol
