Lol, they price the old stuff high for a reason! They want people to switch cause the new stuff is "better for the envoirment". I guess they figure that if they price the old stuff high enough, people will consider it more worthwhile just to switch.

I think he said it was $140 a LB. And that POS caddy takes 48oz.

What all do you have to do to change a r12 system over to a r134a. I know you have to put the new valves on the low and high pressure things and flush it out. Is that all you have to do besides vacuum it out and re fill it?

There is a kit you buy that has new O-rings and such in the kit. But I do believe you would have to replace the line to fit the new Schrader valve. That small one won't work with the new charging kits. But you will need someone to vacuum down the system for your first initial charge after breaking open the system. You can buy a vacuum for around $70 online. They are always good to have. And if you have a set of A/C gauges you're already ahead of the game. And always go by the gauges and not what the factory called for in Ounces. Chrysler had a screw up years ago on the amount of 134a to put in after the system was converted from R12. And the 93's were overfilled and owners were finding out that their engines would over heat. So just try to charge the system old school or have someone do it old school for you. Don't trust the new computer A/C chargers at places like Pepboys or some outfit like that that uses them.
