Air Conditioning question
Ok here go's. Last fall I re-filled my A/C and everything worked fine for about a week, then it started getting warmer, and quit again. I noticed that the valve where you install the freon was leaking, so I assume it may need replaced. Can the valve be replaced, and if so what is it called.This is in my 96' w/3.9, and the valve is located on the passenger fender.
you'll hafta recharge it. There's a reason that valve is red, thats the high pressure side.

It's got a black cap, and it's where I filled it last time. I used gauges, so I know it's the right one. But, the stupid thing is leaking and I'm tryin' to figure out if it is replacable.
I replaced the valve in my Jeep last year and that was converted to R-134a by the previous owner. So that's why I'm wondering what you have. My 93 is still an R-12 set-up and needs to be converted. But that will have to wait. And I'm only saying what I was told by a friend of mine. Other than that I really don't know.

Yes the AC high and low charge valves are Schrader Valves, that is the type of valve it is. The fuel rail has one too. So does the Truck Tires/ Car tires, bicycle tires. A Schrader valve works like below.
Yes it sounds like from above you need to recharge your system. Which is best for a shop to do it. First it needs to have the system vacuumed out, to get rid of all moisture. Next the correct amount of compressor oil. And the correct amount of refrigerant. If the system is the old R12 yes it needs to be converted into 134a. It is simple to do. Just add in the larger valves. You can buy a kit from autozone for $30 or so, check the website.
