Default Rust where rubber bumpers are above control arm

I have a 92 318 4 wheel drive, recently I noticed that the rubber bump stops fell off above the control arms. There is rust holes on both of them. Has any one else had this problem?. How have you repaired? Does anyone make a plate that can be welded on to fix, or would I have to fabricate myself. It appears if I let it go to much longer it will become a strcutural issue. Thanks for any and all help.

Upper or lower bump stops? A new upper bump stop plate would be very easy to fabricate, but if its the lowers that broke loose you'd be better off fabricating a whole new mount. Just get some 1/8 inch or 3/16 inch steel plate, bend it into a U, cut it to the shape of the factory mounts, and weld two more sides on the front and top. Here are some pictures...
