Default OEM radio

What years/styles of newer OEM radio will fit and plug in to a 1992 Dak? I am wanting a CD player but I would also like to keep the clean OEM feel and not spend a lot of money. Most of my money goes into my Eagle Talon.

For example, the OEM CD radio that came in 97-00 Caravan, Dakota, Durango. It looks like the screw holes are in the same place, but are the connectors the same?

Second question, is there any possible way to get an external audio signal into the OEM radio, such as my MP3 player?

Probably 91-96. But I would say just buy a new one. Get a Walmart special. $30-50. And WAY better then the old 14+ year old technology.

I have an old Alpine CD player laying around but I simply don't want to start hacking at the factory wiring harness. Plus, if I install an aftermarket HU then I have to replace the speakers to maintain decent sound quality.

For a 18 year old factory system the speakers actually sound decent, but the POS wont turn on unless I play with the **** a bunch, and I need AT LEAST a CD player.

+1 on the aftermarket radio. Even if you can find one that fits (and I don't know of any off the top of my head), it won't sound good, and will be very picky about scratches on the cd, and bumps in the road... I remember how crappy those old factory cd players were back in those days. You don't have to spend a lot of money on an aftermarket radio... like Crazy said, go to Walmart. I really like the way my radio looks in my truck... its subtle for an aftermarket cd player. Of course its a bit more expensive than one at Walmart.

And as for your 2nd question... get an FM transmitter. Less than $20 just about anywhere than sells electronics.

You don't have to hack up your factory wiring. Just buy an adapter. Simple plug in to the stock plug. $5! Any autoparts stores even Walmart.

the 97+ factory radios won't fit with the dash bezel, because the face sticks out. any radio with a flat face(factory i should say) will fit if the mounting holes line up.

I just bought a Pioneer CD changer with AUX input for $80. It's very discreet, and another $15 or so will buy you a harness adapter so you don't have to worry about hacking up your wiring. As several people pointed out, even if you could find an OEM CD changer, it would be ****e. My old Civic had one, skipped if I so much as drove over a pebble.

Yeah, the OEM one in my Roadmaster did that too...Oh, and it wouldn't read burned CDs and some of the newer commercial CDs. That thing was ripped out within a week and replaced with aftermarket. It made the factory speakers sound even better.
