i have a 1990 dakota 4x4 3.9L. i can pres the clutch in and it revs up a little over 20000 rpms and when i let off the clutch my truck starts going as if i was pressing in my accelerator. i can shift into gears fine but it revs really high when i'm stopped and the clutch is in.

Sounds like a problem with the idle air controller. I think on the pre-magnum engines it was called a throttle kicker solenoid? Anyway, check into replacing that.

 

You don't even have to replace it. What you can do is there is a bolt looking thing attached to a little motor near the throttle linkage. The bolt rests on the linkage and contols the idle air (as 95_318SLT said). With the truck running, turn the bolt until the idle starts coming down and have it settle around 700 RPM. That should fix your problem

 

my truck is also carbourated and i its not my linkage that's finethe butterflies in the carb arent sticking not is the linkage
