im swaping the 3.9 for a 5.9 i was wondering what kind of mount to use my 89 is 4x4?? any ideas

I actually did a 5.2 Magnum to a 5.9 Magnum. Totally different.



But for the 3.9LA to a 5.9 is different. It also depends on what kind of 5.9 you got. Like LA which is 91-down. And if it is carbed or is TBI. Which most of the wires, computer, distributer ect will need to be swapped over.

Or a Magnum 92-up. Magnums come stock with MPI which you will have to swap all wires, sensors, computer, fuel pump.

As far a mounting up the engine I believe your stock mounts will work for both engine styles.

i want to see some good info on swapping an v6 la for a v6 magnum for down the road. something i am interested in. wondering about swapping the tranny & maybe even the transfer case as well?

 

is the la carbed?

 

Not all LA's are carbed. Somewhere like 89 or 90-91 they switch over to throttle body fuel injection. For the V8's anyways. V6 probably was earlier.

 

Wasn't '87 the only year the dakota was carrbed?

They should be the same. I know the 3.9 magnum and 5.2/5.9 magnum mounts are the same, so I assume the LA 3.9 and LA 5.2/5.9 mounts are the same as well.
