Timing set recomendation

Default Timing set recomendation

new to these trucks i have a 94 3.9 v6. 160,000 miles dont know if its been replaced but rather be safe than sorry does anyone have a recomendation on brand or where i should get it from, i had a friend give me a duralast timing set from advaced auto but dont want to put it in if its junk, if you have a recomendation of what brand and where to buy that would be great or even a part # thanks in advance

Timing set?

Do you mean Distributer Cap and rotor, Spark Plugs and Wires?

Duralast is okay. Napa or Dealer is best for caps and rotors.

no i mean the timing chain set. usually comes with the 2 gears and a chain

Duralast from Advance? Is that like Kroger milk from Giant Eagle?

thats what he told me not sure if thats where it came from or not, but yea DURALAST

Duralast = Zone. That set would probably be fine. You could probably get a better, more expensive set but unless you are putting a lot of abuse on the engine it will probably outlast everything else in the engine.

thanks grswat i saw they sell an aftermarket tensioner for the timing chain has anyone used that before, is it worth it
