Default No spark

Drove my dakota home for lunch and it was running beautifully. Got back in it to head back to work and no start. It turns over well, just doesnt want to start.

I pulled out the spark plug light from the tool box and put it on plug #1 and apparently I am not getting any spark. Are there any fuses, relays etc that I should check before doing a mass check on everything?

Have you checked the ASD relay splice? Have you checked the ASD relay?

Checked all the breakers and the fuses in the PRS then checked the splice directly underneath the power relay station and the copper was still very clean. I put some solder on it and then taped it all back up. How do you check the relay?

Also, switched the fuel pump relay and the ASD relay and still no spark. How can I check the coil?

I wouldn't write off the coil just yet.... have you tested your crankshaft position sensor?

I checked the coil with my volt meter and took it to the parts store to have them test it as well and it tested good as well there. I then purchased a new pick up coil and installed that and still no spark.

How does one test a crank shaft position sensor.

This is word for word what the FSM says...

(1) Near the rear of the intake manifold, disconnect sensor pigtail harness connector from main wiring harness.

(2) Place an ohmmeter across terminals B and C. Ohmmeter should be set to 1K-10K scale for this test. The meter reading should be open (no resistance). Replace sensor if a low resistance is indicated.

And terminal B is the center terminal of the harness and C is to the right of it if you are looking straight into the harness with the harness clip nub pointing upward. Refer to the picture on page 8D-7 of the '95 FSM if you can't picture what I'm saying.

Just printed out the ignition system diags and all he wiring schematics. Going to start at the plug wires and work my way backwards to see where the fault is instead of guessing this component or that with shotgun troubleshooting.

Whatever suits you... but my guess is a bad CPS or a bad computer. Not much else it could be if you are getting voltage at the coil but no spark.

Run/pull the codes...it'll help you pinpoint or track the problem.
