Default what tranny??

I am taking an older carbed 360 and putting it in a conquest. I want to use a top loader 5spd and from what i have found i can find it in a dakota. What is the tranny model I would want to use and is there a different model for just 2wd?

Should i look for one out of a dakota sport?

Also I would need it to handle about 350 to 400hp

thanks for your help

A toploader is an old 3 or 4 speed Ford manual transmission, so you definately won't find one in a Dakota!!

There was only 1 manual transmission Dodge ever put in a v8 Dakota, and that is the nv3500 5 speed. If thats what you want to use, you will need one for a 2wd, cause the 4x4's extension housing and output shaft are meant for a transfer case, not a driveshaft. However, you may be pushing that transmission's limits with a built 360. Its hard to say cause the conquest wouldn't weigh as much as a Dakota.
