Can a 360 LA engine swap into a 1993 Dakota?
I have a 1993 Dakota with a 318 Magnum V8. There is a very limited selection of aftermarket parts available where I live without having to pay an arm and a leg for shipping. I came across a 1970's LA 360 engine for FREE!!!! I am wondering how much work is needed to get this engine in my dakota? Can I swap the heads and intake from my 318 magnum onto this engine and then install? Would I have to leave this engine carburated and if so what issues would arise given that the truck is currently MPI. I will be rebuilding this engine if it is possible to swap in.
Anything that could help me decide on this or shed some light would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Trevor

In stock form your 5.2 Magnum will make more HP then that stock 360LA. There are plently of aftermarket for the Magnum, no it is not cheep.
But if your dead on it. Yes you can swap it in. You can swap in anything. As for motor mounts it depends on the exact engine you got. Some have the provisions on it some don't.
For any performance part for Magnum or LA check out www.summitracing.com or http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/index.php
