Two torque converters?
I have had a on going saga with my Dakota. I messed up original trans pulling a trailer so I replaced it with a junk yard find. The only difference between the two is the torque converter. The one that came with truck had the standard notch hub on it. The one that came with replacement just had the sides machined back on the hub. Did I get the wrong trans as the junk yard I got it from pulls the engines and trans and stores them? I have looked around and have not heard anything about different torque converters. Can any one here tell me what year trans I have by the case stamp numbers?

I believe the transmission in your 1995 has been swapped out sometime in the past. The slotted hub torque converter was changed to the milled flat hub type in the early 90's. It has to do with how the converter engages the pump gears in the transmission. Your truck should have the milled flat type. I sounds like the junkyard actually supplied you with the right one. Either design will work as long as they are matched up right.
