Angry 95 2.5 Won't Start ~ A Continuing Saga....

Well today I went and bought the crankshaft sensor to change out but I cannot find the doggone thing. Last time I tried to start it it would fire if you sprayed starting fluid down the carb(injector) whatever. Today nothing happens with the starting fluid. I'm about ready to pour gas on the doggone thing! Thank God this isn't my daily driver...... I will never but another Dodge! Someone please help. One other thing somebody mentioned in another post about checking fusible links. What do they look like and how would you check it? I've already checked the splices under the box with nothing visibly wrong.

If you've checked the splices, you've seen the fuslble links...same thing. Its gotta have spark, air and fuel to run. Air is a given, check for spark and fuel delivery. Can't help you locate the crankshaft sensor...my truck has the V8. Run the rabbit on spark and fuel and I'll bet you get it running. Has the engine PCM/ECM set any codes?

Download the factory service manual in the FAQ. It will show you where the parts you are looking for are. I would also recommend checking the fuel relay and ASD relay. Check the splice (I think the 2.5 should have the splice also). You need to narrow down if you have spark and fuel, so do that, see if you have fuel pressure, see if you have spark. Without that info you are pretty much going in blind.

You are fuel injected I would think, you are probably spraying into the throttle body.

UPDATE.... Went to the parts store to return the crankshaft sensor and got the ignition module. For everyone's information, the 2.5 L L4 didn't have a crankshaft sensor until 1996 according to the local Dodge dealer parts guru, which would explain why I couldn't find it! The camshaft sensor is part of the ignition module. Anyway I tried to start it before changing the module and nothing. Took about 10 minutes to change it out and without hesitation my truck lives again!!! I have learned one thing from all this.... think simple things before diving into tracing wires and splices, fusible links ADSD etc. Sometimes we have a tendency to overthink things and mine was a prime case. Apparently that ignition module somehow has some way of controlling the fuel pump also. I listened for it yesterday and couldn't hear it run. I have put about 15 miles on it now and it seems to be fine. Here's hoping!
