Default V6 aftermarket camshafts?

Is it still possible to get performance camshafts for the 3.9 engine?

Yes. Check here...

There may be other places that have some as well, but thats the only one I know of off the top of my head.

Thanks! Does the LA and Magnum engines share the same camshafts?

Uh-oh, I think they only offer camshafts for the Magnum...

If it is your intent to improve your current engine, you will need a better intake manifold. I advise getting an 88-90 TBI intake and having the top machined to take a larger 2 barrel carb, like what was found on the 360 and 400 engines..
The 87 BBD carb bolt pattern is too close to the Holley to allow just buying an adapter.

I put the bigger 2bbl carb and a 360 intake manifold on a 318 once, dropping 2 sizes for the jets, and it ran very smooth. I only lost 1 mpg in mileage...

With a purple cam, you will need an improved intake and exhaust system to get the best performance gain.

I think my Dakota really is a '88, as it has the TBI. I've been in contact with thefastman.com, and will probably buy one of his TB's. I will also get the Edelbrock headers from Hughes Engines.

bill55az: What are the specs on that camshaft?
