Wow...I just read through your thread. I feel for ya man.
My 91 had the same sh-t going on. Did everything you did...but I got lucky ( luckier?)...it was the ECM on mine.
I was ready to torch the truck up until I changed the computer though.
You must have the patience of a cat.
Keep us up to date...this is pretty intriguing stuff.

ITS RUNNING!! And I feel like a complete idiot...those three red wires we found should have been four. I should have paid attention to billwillbourns post more closely. You were directly on the money bill. They put a scanner on it and there was no communication. So they opened up the loom on the whole drivers side and found the fourth red wire just hanging there. I am so happy that the dak is up and running again but upset with myself for being so dumb. Thanks to everyone who has been reading and posting!!

Glad you found it and that it is up and running again. But with all the stuff you have done to it, it should be running really good

Great News! mine died again after about 6 month's, the connection got dirty, i ended up using a pretty heavy duty crimp connector and it seems to be okay.

Well all right! I had a nagging electrical problem when I was hooking up a rebuilt engine in a J10 pickup I had.
I remember, literally, jumping for joy, yelling and hooting it up when I finally figured it out. Sort of like this .

LOL. Well something funny happened to me tonight. I was taping up all the areas that we had cut into the harness to inspect the splices. When I got done, I had a little voice say, "Try to start it". So I did and I was completely floored. The damn thing wouldnt start! SAME ISSUE. No check engine light and no start, but it turned over just fine. So, I opened up the freshly taped area where the shop had resoldered the 4 red wire splice....The same wire got loose! Evidently the shop cut so much away from the original wire, that when I taped it, it pulled loose. So I got a same guage piece of wire and spliced it in to make it easier to tape. Used the most rhobust connector and stripped away the plastic so that I can solder it later and crimped everything down. I tested it then and it started just fine. So I retaped everything. And again, it started perfectly. So I am a happy camper again

Yep, the factory must have saved a bunch of $$ back in the build days with below-wholesale wire.

Just wanted to point out that the wire was still in tact, the solder broke loose. BY FAR the worst 86 bucks I ever spent for them to solder that.

Yeah, those four wires are tricky. I remember using a lot of solder to make the connection.
