Ok thanks. Some say it will, some say it wont. The fellow I'm looking to get this tranny from said it was behind a 5.2L. So I guess I will go for it. And let you all know how it pans out.

judging from that post it sounds like as long as you are gentle to it the trans will hold up ok. I guess it depends on what you are looking to do. I would say probably not if you plan for any wheeling/towing/hard driving/etc. If you plan to stroll around and drive like Grandpa then it'll probably fly. Just my interpretation of it tho, I am still learning myself so by no means am I the end all answer :P

Good luck, be sure to let us know how things play out and take lots of pictures if possible so we can see how it goes!

It will physically fit but it isn't designed to stand up to the 5.2. There is a good chance that it won't last long. You would be much better off getting a NV3500.

Oh, and the guy selling it to you is selling you a bunch of BS. The AX-15 was never sold factory behind the 5.2. So adding that to the mix, he may have already toasted it for you.

+1. And to add one more thing, the AX-15 was not even offered behind the 3.9 V6 in the Ram 1500. Dodge put the nv3500 behind the 3.9L V6 because although the ax-15 can handle the v6 in a lighter truck, the Ram is too heavy for it. The ax-15 originated as a light duty 4 cylinder manual transmission.

I called my tranny guy this morning. He said the AX-15 can be upgraded to handle 450ft/lb of torque. but for what I wanna do and because he's my buddy. we are gunna work out a deal. cost on the parts and free labour. Everyone should have friends like that. I will let you know what all he does to it to handle this kind of power.
