The rear seal on my truck was leaking, so about two weeks ago, I replaced it. However, the seal the auto-parts store had listed for my truck (94 3.9 5 speed; AX-15,) didn't even come close to fitting; way too big. I found one that seemed to fit, but just yesterday I noticed it's leaking again! So does anyone know if over the years, the opening in the rear end of the AX-15 changed? I'm wondering if the trans was replaced at some point with another AX-15 from a different year which is why the seal that's supposed to fit my truck didn't fit.

 

I don't think they have really changed over the years.

Best if you have the old seal take it in and match it. It will probably need to be exact for it not to leak and work properly.
