Just installed a new heater and evaporator core in my '95.

Here's what I had after I got the box out and removed the top.
The 2 cores simply slide right out. Both had been leaking pretty good.
Here it is all cleaned up and new cores installed. Both cores were bought from www.rockauto.com $98 for the evap and $28 for the heater core. The heater core was 1-1/2" shorter (lengthwise) than the original. I placed 2 strips of door weatherstrip on the edge of the core and it tightened it up nicely. CAUTION! When installing the evap core, go to the local auto A/C shop and buy about 3 oz of A/C oil. Pour it into the 2 pipes, place a piece of duct tape over the pipes, poke a small hole in the tape and use air pressure (very little) to blow the oil throughout the core tubes. Oil needs to be entered into the condenser and compressor also but the A/C shop should do that when they charge the system. The entire system requires about 7 oz of oil.
Installation is the reverse of removal. Lay the unit down with the core inlet and outlet pipes face down. Push towards the firewall and twist the unit into the upright postion. It takes patience and finese. Take your time, have plenty of light and you should be OK. I ordered an A/C seal kit also. Comes with all the seals and new garter spring clips too. The factory service manual doesn't mention removing the seat before attempting this task. Trust me when I say......remove the seat!
