hi guys, bought a 95 slt ex cab 3.9 auto, 114,000, iam redoing everything, valve job, timing chain , oil pump, etc, all new brakes , want to change the fuel pump, just change the pump , or should i change the whole thing, do they have any problems with the pressure reg, which i take is part of the pump assembly ,,, thanks, tom
There is no replacement for the pump alone. You have to replace the entire fuel sending unit. It has the float gauge, pump, fuel regulator and fuel filter.
hey guys, are the fuel pumps from autozone any good,?? thanks for your help,, tom
I hope so, as I just installed one this afternoon!
Something that seemed strange to me is that you have to re-use the old rollover valve. Seems like they'd just slap a new one on it so you don't have to mess with re-using the old one. I'm not sure if all of the aftermarket fuel pump modules are like this or not.
I just snap my rollover valve. changing my fuel pump module. Its an expensive piece to replace for a little plastic that has no electrical connectors and is not bigger than a fist. 70 bucks new... I am headed to the scrap yard to see if i can pull one off a truck somewhere.. Hope its alot cheaper.
good idea ? I don't know but it will have to do till i get to a junk yard.. Its running .. but for some reason the gas meter wont go higher than a quarter tank
