normal gas mileage?
My truck is still completely stock. 1992 Dakota, 5.2, auto, 2wd, extended cab.
I fill my tank completely and I only get 200-220 miles mixed city/highway before the low fuel light comes on. This seems like really bad gas mileage to me, even for a V8 pickup, and I normally don't drive with a lead foot. Air filter was replaced a few months ago. It runs great, idles smooth.
Is this normal? What kind of mileage should I be getting?

How many gallons are you filling up with? Without knowing your MPG NO one will know if you have bad gas mileage.
But for a V8 12city 14HW is typical. Others report 18 or more on a V8, but I doubt that is real and I doubt it is all the time.
For me with my larger V8 5.9 with a heavy foot I get 10-11city.

Mine is worse than my 96,z28,350cu/in camaro was. Cant seem to pass a gas station. I was going to ask what would make the millage better. Obviously a tune up... plugs, wires, fuel filter and air filter...
I have the 22 gallon tank and I can push it to 220 miles until my low fuel light comes on. Just this past Friday I tanked up with 19.6 gallons and got 232 miles outta her. I have 4WD too so that will definitely make a difference when comparing MPG.

Miles per tank is a useless number, figure out your actual MPG.
The small tank is 15 gallons.
I've hit 20+ with mine before, I averaged 18.5MPG on my Crater Lake trip doing 70. It's certainly possible, at least with a 5 speed.
Don't forget that, unless you have the optional 22 gallon fuel tank, the standard tank only holds 12 gallons of fuel.

Even though mine is a V6 the V8 shouldn't be far off. With about 50/50 city/highway, I get about 19mpg. Driving it from PA to AZ I got 21-22mpg. Mine is a V6, manual, 4x4, standard cab, short bed, with a 22gal tank.
