I've done a lot of reading online and I've called around. I want to make my truck sound better, but I have a few things going against - my truck has the 3.9 V6 and the cat is gone(was clogged and rattled). Many people tell me to invest in a flowmaster 50 series for my truck but they list for about $100 or more, are there any mufflers equivilent to that? Like a trhush welded?

Any suggestions?

It is all up to personal preference. Spend some time on www.youtube.com and see what you like.

 

I've looked over a few videos on youtube, its just kinda hard to tell exactly what they are running(cats/no cats, larger diameter pipe, etc), most videos dont give a very clear explanation. I'm just curious to see if any members here have experiance with different mufflers and exhaust mods on the 3.9 v6

 

Honestly, I recommend the Thrush Welded. Sounds awesome on a 5.2 but also sounded good on my 4.3 Blazer with the cat. So I'm sure it'd sound good on a 3.9 Dakota without.

 

the thrush welded is the same as a flowmaster super 40. it doesnt really have any baffles but it has the chambers and a single "v" in the center. ive had one on both my 318 daks and my 4.3 jimmy had one witha high flow cat. but all have been running 3" pipe. it is excessive for a v6 but it will greatly deepen the sound of the exhaust
