i cant get a socket on it man i took that transfer case off 5 times now and the last time i forgot to use the closed end of the wrench and it stripped the edges and put open end wrench and it just spins, cant buy a wrench to fit it im just gonna put it all back together and pay a mechanic to change that damn thing, ive put $1700 in it and its sitting in the yard, thats unacceptable. I hate thinking about how much trouble its been, but i love that truck so much. CANT BEAT A V8 DAKOTA!

You might have to use some heat and those special wrenches that grab stripped bolts. There is a ton of different styles out there.

Post up a picture of the striped bolt. If it is the one on the strap you are right there is not enough room for a socket. A vicegrip should fit. Or get a cut off wheel and cut of the head of the bolt. Or cut off the strap just above the bolt head. Then remove once the drive shaft is out. And don't worry about cutting into the U-Joint it should be replaced anyways. You can buy the Straps and bolts at any auto parts store.

i wouldn't pay someone else for that issue if you can handle the project jourself. if it is the one on the strap i agree and say just cut the off. once its out you can drill it and most likely it's gonna come out easy at the point. just think though theshop would be doing the same thing

im just tired of messing with the truck on the transmission its been nothing but problems, im gonna have them change the flexplate so he will have to get the bolt off too so why not let him do it. i dont have time to screw with it, but once thats fixed, im done with working on it until i got the money for for the turbo setup. im in no hurry, i dont have a job and i owe my dad 1700 total for transmission and parts, then another 1000 for the truck. im gonna have someone fix it then ill make it a daily driver and pay back my dad, im turning 18 on the 5th of next month.
