My starter won't turn over my engine after the car has been sitting for a while. I have to smack it with a hammer at least once a day to get the car started. Cannot afford to replace the starter and continue to have this problem. I need to know exactly what is causing this starting issue. I was hoping to hear something back from the person who started this thread to see if he had any luck with finding a solution. Help plz!

Sounds to me like you have a bad starter? The common cause for a starter not turning over with out being smacked is loose broken wires or coil.
