92 5.2 A/F issue
1992 CC 5.2 auto 4x4 156k on the ticker.
problem im having is a bit odd and hard to even think of what could be causing it.
when it snows i get extremely bad gas mileage and the exhaust stinks horrible. It doesnt happen in the rain. it wants to stall out when coming to a stop but never does, it always catches itself with a quick rev to about 1200 RPM. Sitting stopped it seems to be loading up as it progressively runs worse and stinks more at a stand still. I had this problem as well last winter but i figured it worked itself out somehow. I was wrong, now on the first snowfall its back. the truck doesn't have a converter on it anylonger as last year i thought that was causing the problem i had it cut off and a pipe welded in its place. ran perfect all summer towing my boat and being a daily driver. hottest days to coldest days no issue.
i'm curious as to wlhat controls the air fuel ratio on this thing and if there is some kind of a sensor underneith that might be getting caked with salt and ice. i looked under the hood and it doesnt seem that anything is getting wet. also had a full tuneup last year that didnt resolve the problem.
any help is appreciated
