Default auto trans swap options for 95 v8 4wd dakota

Well ive been told i can not install a tf727 in my 95 dakota with 318. What are my options as far as this goes? Is my only option to use a dakota factory trans? My truck has a standard right now. Will i have to wire the trans up to make it work? Its going in an off road race truck so i do not need overdrive really. Also which side is the cps sensor on and what model number trans do i need? thx

It should work. You would have a NV3500. If your looking for an auto plenty of choices without the OD. All dodge trucks with v8s 70-up. Custom work may need to be done like drive shaft or rear motor mount. Depending exactly what you get. It will need to be 4wd though.

Yes you would. But if there is not one you can cut one in very easy. It is on the passenger side.

from the faq itself(for reference)

"Manual
1987 - 1991 New Process A535 / NV2500 (same transmission... the name changed when the company was sold) A good NV2500 post Here.

1992 - 1993:
L4 and V6 AX-15 5-speed (1st 3.83, 2nd 2.33, 3rd 1.44, 4th 0.79 Rev. 4.22)
V8 No Manual trans offered.

1994 - 1996
L4 and V6 AX-15 5-speed
V8 NV3500 5-speed (1st 4.01, 2nd 2.32, 3rd 1.40, 4th 1.00,5th 0.73, Rev. 3.55)"

then also from the faq
" http://www.motivegear.com/tech_info/tranny_guide/tranny_guide.html"

it list the name, info on where it can be found(in what vehicles) and a picture of the transmission.

hope this helps
