Default Manual Transmission Conversion

All,

Has anyone tackled a manual conversion in their 'Kota?
I'm looking for some advice / recommendations.
It's a '92 5.7 Hemi DBW w/ A500 auto.
I feel like the pedal assm and slave cylidner assm are going to give me the most trouble of the whole project. Everything else should be plug and play aside from the transmission cross member and drive shaft modifications. Any thoughts?

Thanks
-Jeff

If you look in the FAQ2 one of the moderators swapped in the nv4500 into his 1993. He gives pretty good detail on the slave cylinder and pedal assembly stuff for that year.

YOu put a hemi in your 1992 Dakota?

95_318SLT has done the manual swap and now he is putting a NV4500 in it to replace the NV3500.

i swapped an nv3500 into mine...it wasn't that hard. i have a 96 ram master/slave cylinders and a gm hydraulic clutch hose. not sure if the nv4500 will work behind a hemi or do you already have the transmission lined up? 1 thing i suggest would be to have all your parts ready so it will be quick and there won't be a lot of jaggin around. it took me 3weeks to do mine and that was only working on it 12hours a week(at night). for the pedal assy(if you still have the one that came in the truck) just go to a junkyard, find one that has a manual setup and grab the brake and clutch pedals, the bolt that holds them in and the plate that holds the master cylinder in. you will have to modify a shifter that is for a ram truck(being that it is for a full size truck). i had to modify mine and it still hits the dash.

Thanks guys! I think more than anything, I need motivation.

Shadow: I do have a factory Dakota pedal assembly, but I don't think that I have the master cylinder plate. I have actually discussed one option with Brewer's Performance in Ohio. We discussed an A833 set up for the Hemi, from the flywheel back. Granted, a 4speed is not economical or great for cruising but it has a cool factor.

dbilik, brihno360: Thanks, I'll have to check out the other threads.

I've got an '98 NV3500 back in the barn but I'm not sure that it will take the abuse. I would have to find an 8 bolt, 11" flywheel. Someone could make one I'm sure if there is nothing on the market.

Yes, I do need to have all of my ducks in a row for this one. I don't want it to drag out too long.

Thanks again for the input.
