Default E-3 plugs

Has anyone used those new E3 spark plugs in their dakotas? Is it just hype? Or do they really help with power and mileage? I usually just go with oem.

I'll take this one. There have been a few independant studies done to suggest that they "may" provide up to about 1% power increase, however, the NOX was significantly lowered about 30%. At around $13 each, I just cannot put my faith into them, as the savings would never be realized. You do get bragging rights though.

I'm not sure what year your truck is or engine, but for Magnums the best plug which has plenty of dyno tests to prove it is the Autolite 3923 which is 1 step colder range plug. Ask for it by part number.

don't know about power or mileage but platinum plugs will fire in a 3.9 duel point injection even if you dump stuff from your septic in your tank, regular plugs won't.

darn i miss the old dak, it's been delivering pizzas for the past year, not an honorable death. she should have died on the trail.

Thanks all for the reply! Mine is a 93 with the 3.9 I think I might try the autolite 3923s and see how they work. I'll just get oem wires-probably no dif there!

I sell E3 plugs through my work, people buy them but no more then the amount of people who used to buy Splitfire plugs too and they were a joke. The Speed channel guys did a thing on them, they did pick up power and lower emmissions but the test was done in a fairly new (07+) car so will it really be noticeable in a vehicle that is 10+ years older, probably not.

in my experience on other cars hotter plugs tend to increase power as long as you're not detenating... the magnums run better on colder plugs???

I tried the E3s in my 1989 Dakota V6. I wanted to try it in the Dakota first because it has only 6 cylinders compared to 8 in the Jeep, so I saved a couple of bucks. I didn't notice any difference in power or mpg and I check my mpg every tank of gas.
