Default 1993 Dakota Temp Coolant Sensor Location

1993 Dakota V6. I have seen the manuals but they do not give a clear picture to where the Temp Coolant Sensor is. I know where the Temp Switch is and have replaced it but need a photo of where the sensor is. Thanks

Single wire feeds the gauge and the two wire feeds the ECM. Crude drawing but.........Name: tempg.jpg

If it is anything like the 5.2 it is under the air compressor, I changed mine over the weekend.

like dalemoser said, its under the ac compressor. for replacement, I found the best way is to take the air cleaner off, remove the serpentine belt, take the three bolts on the backside of the ac compressor off (I believe its a 13 or 12mm) then the two bolts on the front of the compressor. you should then be able to pick the compressor up and move it off to the side. Unplug the sensor then use a 13mm deep socket to remover the sensor.

Thanks to all that replied. I found it Thursday night and it was unplugged. Once plugged in, the engine ran great and the check engine light went off. In time I'll clear the the codes.

Good post, thanks for this one! By removing all the stuff to get to this sensor, can you then easily get to the small hose that is at the top of water pump?

A photo of this sensor location would help me too. Btw (by the way, for acronym challenged like me), what is ECM?

Hello, really nothing is easy about that little hose on top of the waterpump. Just take your time. You may have to walk away a couple times and say a few nasty words but it is possible to change. Lol. BTW ECM stands for Engine Control Module aka the computer.
