Weird feeling under hard acceleration...Kind of perplexing
I have noticed this since I bought the truck, but can't figure out what is going on. I know the shocks are shot on the truck, but I don't think that would be what is causing this weird feeling.
When I accelerate hard in first and second gear, the car lifts up like all cars do, but it kind of feels like the transmission lifts up and seems like it is rotating. I know nothing is really flipping, but it seems like it gets to a certain twist from the stress, then suddenly the stress seems to be relieved like it flipped and went back to the normal position.
Wow going back and reading this it sounds pretty impossible. It is a very hard to describe problem. I will try again tomorrow to describe what is going on.
Any ideas?
Zac

Thanks guys. When I changed the oil last time I looked at both of those, and they seemed ok, but maybe I don't know what they should look like. Anyone got a picture of good ones vs bad ones?
Well there's a number of ways to check your motor/transmission mounts. Watch the engine as someone crank's the truck over, slight movement is okay, but if there's alot of movement than your motor mounts are most likely cashed. The main transmission mount is connected right to the crossmember, so watch it as the transmission is shifted into gear. If it goes into gear hard than your transmission mount is probaly cashed. Also check driveshaft movement for possible cashed U-joint's as well. Check your transmission fluid as well

Great....Now I have to find a friend!

So are you saying that with the car stopped, in neutral and clutch depressed...When I shift into gear (and don't release the clutch) the tranny will try to rotate? Or do you want a friend to drive over me while I watch the rotation of the tranny
The gear oil was just changed last month (that was freaking expensive $85 for just 3 qt of oil and i had to change it) so that shouldn't be an issue.
