Default 93 Dakota Motor HOT - Heater Blows ICE

My 1993 Dakota with the 318 in it just began heating up VERY quickly and was pegged as I was shutting it down. However, the strange thing is, the heater is actually blowing ice cold air out.

Thermostat? What else could cause this?

Thanks.

Yeah id check the fluid first as that is the cheapest, then id check the thermostat, and then if that doesnt fix it id check the heater core.

My Dak was doing the same thing.

First, check fluid level.

Second, replace thermostat.

Third, disconnect hoses to heater core into firewall. Hold a bucket under one fitting, blast the other with the air compressor. Heater core might be clogged up, and a little air can help force the chunks out. Hook everything back up and refill fluids.

Fourth, check water pump.

I agree with the fluids and the thermostat. Im also thinking you may have a blockage. If the fluid is up and the thermostat is opening, you will need a good flush.
