Unhappy Light "metal-on-metal" sound almost all the time.

There has always been a rattling sound comming from my engine compartment. I sounds to me like a loose bolt and the washer is rattling around or something like that. Its worrying me, it also doesnt sound good. I can't seem to pinpoint where its comming from either. I hope its not something major inside the engine? Does anyone know what it could be?
Thanks

Yeah I know, thats whats bad about it . But I'm pretty sure the frequency doesn't change with the rpm, which must be good?

Mine sounded kinda like that the whole time I had it. I just figured it was the way those moters sound. Got another motor hanging in the air, it sounded the same before I pulled it. Both 3.9 magnums.

I'm thinking it might be something inside the muffler. I know there a small piece (sounds like a little stone) loose and rattling around in there. I'm going to be buying a new exhaust soon either way, so that will hopefully do away with the problem

The catalytic converter can brake up and rattle. Or like you said something in the muffler or pipes.

When I installed my headers I guess I dropped my 1/4in ratchet in the pipe. I found it 5 or more years later. That sucker was burnt to hell. It was a craftsman. I took it in for a new one, no questions asked.
