finally got it
93 5.2 ext cab 4x4.been hearing about the truck, for 6 months through a friend.who wanted to buy it,to put the motor in his barracuda.he said the truck had been sitting for about a year, after a roll over.he said that the cab could be pushed out.but,my thinking was i have a 93 ext cab v6 2wd truck, that uses more oil than gas,but has a pretty much perfect body besides missing paint, and surface rust on hood, and top of cab(typical problem).i am no body man.went and looked at it a week ago,no windshield,or pass. door glass, from the wreck.basically total pass side body would have to be redone.so yes there is still gonna be a body swap.well, couldnt get a key,to start when we went the first time, wanted to atleast make sure it would start,n hit the gears, because a 500.00 truck could get real expensive really fast.went back monday, with a key, good battery,5 gal of gas, oil, tranny fluid, and two air tanks.checked oil dark, but full, check anti freeze full, put the battery on,blower motor started running.
got in the truck, shut the blower off, cycled the key three times, spun it over started right up.purred like a kitten.
!!!!!!!!put it in neutral, smoked a little, let it warm up,while putting air in the tires.got the tires aired up,put it in rev.it hit,but took it a few seconds, back in neut. checked tranny fluid.nothin on the stick, added fluid,2 quarts, put in rev.hit fast, like it should.
!!!!!!!!so,now to go pay for the truck, pulled it out of the wholes it was sittin in,yeah baby.got to the guys house,n after talkin to him,the truck had been sitting for 3 yrs.,n the tranny had just been rebuilt shortly before the wreck.
on a 20 mile ride home, with insulated bibs, carhartt coat, sock cap, snow mobile goggles, and gloves.goin north was easy but we had a west wind that day of about thirty mph, that was a little rough.but, all electrical, heat, signals, cruise all the gears, drove str8,no pullin.but lost about a quart of tranny fluid, not sure where that came from yet.cus we have had no weather since to crawl around on the ground,to check since.oh yeah 4x4 does work, when i got it home, spun it down n the ground in 2wd,to where it wouldnt do anything but spin, put it in 4lo,pulled right out.so the 2" body lift is on the way,and and plan on starting the body swap next week.i will be posting pics tomorrow.of the ride home, and will post pics all the way through the build.
