rack/pinion replacement problem
Hey guys. Very cool forum here.
I'm a new member (obviously) and I'm having problems replacing the rack/pinion on my truck.
It's a 93 Dak 2wd 3.9
The factory service manual says to "remove coupling pin" from the bottom of the steering shaft where it slips on the splined end of the rack and pinion.
I tried to use a center punch and hammer = no worky. Tried a drill bit and it broke off in the hole and now i'm at a loss.
Anyone got an idea for how to get the steering shaft disconnected from the rack ?
I removed the 'pinch bolt' that's about halfway between the rack and firewall and cannot get the column to separate there either.
I'm really stuck here and would really appreciate some help.
Thanks in advance.

Worked like a champ.
After we put the rack in, we noticed the steering wheel was upside down, so we removed it (again) flipped the wheel, then re-installed.
Thanks for your tip. It worked like a charm.
Much appreciated.
