Default T-case question

Hello all. New to this forum but a long time Dakota owner. I see alot of experience on this board but i might be a little off base with my build. I was curious is anyone knew if there was an NP242 case out there with the proper spline count to hang off my trans. I found a ton of jeep guys swapping the 231 and 242 back and fourth but i seem to remember a spline difference from when i blew up the last case. Thank you in advance for any information.

I don't know of one that would come that way, but you can swap input shafts with your np231. I did that on my truck a year and a half ago. The bigger problem you'll run into with the jeep np242, though, is the output shaft is a smaller diameter, so you'll need to put a new slip yoke on the driveshaft and possibly lenthen the driveshaft.

Wow. Thanks for the excellent writeup and my bad for not doing a better search. Out of curiosity did you do anything with the shifter trim and 4WD light to indicate modes?
