Unhappy Dash lights fuse keeps blowing

Went to the store, found a 5 amp fuse in the glovebox, replaced it and all was good when I checked them before going in the store.

Started the truck for the trip home and the fuse blew again.

Any ideas on why this is?

I jumped my daughter's car off the other night, but they worked on the way home. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.

All other lights and gauges are working fine.

something is drawing too much amperage (no kidding, rreally?) perhaps a short to ground is happening? we need to fire up a wiring diagram to find out whats going on. I have access to mitchells ondemand, I'll try and see what I can pull up.

Cheerz!

Sounds like a short somewhere. Electrical can be the hardest to track down sometimes. Pull up a wiring diagram, and start checking continuity and voltage drop across the circuits. It's tedious, but doable.

Correct. The instruments and radio work but, aren't illuminated. I put a good fuse in and pulled the light switch to the "parking light" position (halfway out) and they work. After I start the engine, the fuse blows but, the instruments, radio, interior lights all still work.....just no dash lights, radio lights, heater/ac lights.

alright, if you havn't already, snag yourself a wiring diagram. that will help us a lot. if you goto https://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-d...kota-96-a.html you can find the 94 diagram there. Download it and open it, check out figure 19 to start. look at the splice and the items attached to it, then look at where the splice gets its power from. all a single fuse. If these are the components having issues then we may have narrowed down the area to look at.

cheerz!

'preciate it man. I downloaded the file and I'll try to make heads or tails out of it tomorrow maybe. I have a gig in Atl. today.....all day affair so, no "truck work."

Just looked in the driveway and she's sunk down on that flat and looking mighty miserable.... like me.

Good thing I'm riding with somebody or I'd be SOL. Man, I'm bummed.
