Default 87 Dakota Holly Carbs

What I ask I cannot find anywere else. Will a Holly 2bb carb from the 87 2.2, work on the 87 3.9? I know they look different, but i cannot find the specs on the intake or the carbs. What I did find out is they are both 2bb carbs thats it. No one talks about these older 2bb carbs anymore i guess. Sad, truth be told. "HOLLY 2bb" YOU WILL BE REMEMBERED.

Will it work? Yes. Will it be big enough? Depends on the flowrating. If your not going all out then it will work fine. Better to be undercarbed than overcarbed. Think of it as a semi restrictor plate. A carb only pulls enough fuel based on vacuum. So even if it were a little smaller, it would be more "snappy". Then you now would have a snappy 2v carb.

the 2.2 carb is a staged carb, running on a single primary until you get up to a certain throttle position than the secondary kicks in....
the 3.9 carb is a true 2BBL, with 2 primaries, no secondaries.

I wouldn't do it, but more power, or more accurately, more economy to you if you can make it work....gonna need a bigger primary jet at the least...
