Any cover should work up through 01 at least, I've got a Sport Masters I bought used for $60.

Correct, any 1st or 2nd gen 6.5 box cover should work.

A guy on cl has one off a 2001 quad cab short box should that work? He thinks its a 5 foot box? I looked on allpar and out should work right...

the quad cab box is shorter. like 5 foot 4 or something. club or reg cab are the same though. could just messure it if in doubt.
