Default Engine Numbers? 92 Dakota

Wondering where the engine numbers would/should be stamped on a 1992 Dakota V6.

Used truck. Trying to identify if it's the original engine or not.

Thanks for any help.

It should be near the bell housing. Do a google search tons of sites with full details on the brake down of the numbers.

I've Googled:

Dakota Engine Numbers
92 Dodge Engine Numbers
92 Dakota Engine Numbers
Dakota Block Numbers
Dakota V6 Engine & Block Numbers
Dakota Serial Numbers

Etc. Etc. Etc.

Everything that pops up is about the VIN or the sizes & changes through the generations.

I couldn't find anything about the actual location & decoding. I'll keep looking.

Thanks.

Try Dodge Engine Casting number
Or Dodge Magnum Engine Casting number

Also the FAQ has the service manual that has the location with pictures.

Haven't found it. Looked through the 95 FSM. The FAQ's. Multiple Google searches.

As of this post, over 50 views and no-one has said for example:

"Look on the passenger side under the front spark plug. The numbers/letters will be A-B-C-D-1-2-3-4 & they mean XYZ......"

Must be a mystery or my searching sucks.

Maybe I should ask the question in a different way.

If a person were to buy a 3.9 engine, new (possible?), or it comes cleaned & rebuilt in a crate, where would numbers be on that engine related to it's details and build date?

Thanks.

Thanks. I know you get tired of the repetitive questions over time from different people & would just wish they would read all of the FAQ & use searches.

I try, but sometimes suck at it.

Thanks again.
