Default Rear Drive Shaft Reinstallation

Removed the rear drive shaft to replace transmission slip yoke, figured I would replace rear u joint also. What a disaster, tale piece was changed and factory joint did not fit. Aftermarket was over fifty dollars. So I decided to reinstall the original joint that was good. Here come the problem. When I tighten the rear clamps to the joint caps they do not tighten and are sloppy. I know it did not shrink lol. Has any one had the same problem and what is the fix. Seems odd that it will not tighten now. Any suggestions?

It's hard to say what the problem would be without seeing it. Just look for something binding ect. Make sure you got the C-Clips properly installed. Make sure all the bearing needles are correctly positioned.
