You don't HAVE to use premium gas. For best results you would use premium. Regular gas will be just fine, if your getting bad pining then that would tell you it doesn't like the regular gas.

At least use mid-grade, hardly any throttle and mine would ping with regular pretty badly.

you know you can change the timing advance in the pcm to compensate for that if you have a buddy with a drb

The whole point of the Mopar PCM is to adance the timing, thus giving you more power, retarding the timing defeats the purpose.
