Unhappy 87 Dakota - Passenger Door Stuck

Had this problem for a while... The passenger door is stuck closed on my '87 Dakota. The door still makes a de-latching sound when pulling the handle but doesn't open no matter what I do. Also the outside handle feels kinda loose. I tried removing the door panel today but it is impossible to do so while the door is shut.

Thank you in advance for any tips.

2 things come to mind. one: handle is broke, try a slim jim to pop the lock. two: plastic clips broke on the linkage itself, fix is difficult and may involve destroying door panel to gain access to said linkage. just my take.

Well I tried going in with a slim jim but I realized I don't really know what I am looking for in there.

So both inside and outside door handles don't work to open it?

Ya most likely the plactic retaining clips are bad. Your best bet is to pull the seat then pull off the door pannel.

i second pulling the seat. you wil have a small portion still coverd by the dash and may damage it but with the seat out you can probbly contort yourself into a pretzel and get in there to the latch.
