What your wanting is a MOMENTARY SWITCH. Regardless, the benefit is if your ignition switch has failed and you have the materials available, you can readily make a circuit. You still have to unlock the column with the key which would negate the real value of push button starting comparable to modern systems. EDIT: I do not like the fact that the reference of taping wires is acceptable, especially with the starting circuit. I also, do not care for the ambiguous references to wiring locations, as using the momentary switch could be wired with only one wire to complete the circuit, of the relay, using the ground sensor.

no, i would do it the right way, no "taping snug" (the guy i bought my car from had the ground wires for the subs, fans, etc, just wrapped around bolts, no connectors, just bare wire) so after i fixed all the fire hazards im looking into other things lol. Also to I noticed, he said he used a cut up house extension cord, wth? but im not getting is what the white wire is for, shouldnt the switch have only 2 terminals? one to battery and the other to acc. ?
---ALWAYS USE WIRE CONNECTORS !AND! SHRINK TUBING/ ELECTRICAL TAPE. REWIRING A CAR DUE TO A FIRE IS ALOT HARDER AND MORE $$ THAN BUYING .97 CONNECTORS --- for people reading

On my Dragstip TA I had installed a push button starter switch. I needed heavier wire than stock. Very easy install.
Autozone sells the starter push buttons, only closes when pushed and opens when released. I would post a link but Autozone site is down at the moment. I believe it was $10 or so. So here is a quick Google pic.
Edit: Here is the link to Autozone's part. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...fier=6459_0_0_

those newer cars use a push button switch that only activates if the remote is within 30ft of the vehicle...my grandpa and i did this on the 49 chev pickup since the switches kept burning out...
