Default Battery Gauge fluctuates

1995 Dodge Dakota SLT 3.9L V6 2wd

I drove it over 120 miles yesterday, battery gauge is always in the middle but when I turn the turn signals on it fluctuates from 11 oclock to 1 oclock.

I hear they could be either a ground problem or a too thin of a terminal cable that can't carry the required amps.

I have a voltmeter. I don't know where the grounds are on the truck. If anyone could help me, that'd be great.

When it does it is it idle only? First check the alternator and battery connections, make sure their tight and clean. You can get them both tested for free at most auto part stores.

It happens whenever the turn signals are on, also happens when I press the button to put both of them on. Happens when it's idling and when I'm driving until the turn signal stops.

I'll have the alt tested at autozone. I didn't know they could test the terminals, do they test amps through the terminals, or what?

If it only occurs when you are using the blinkers, then I would suspect the positive lines from the lights are the culprit. If they check out, then the blinker relay may have a bald spot on one of the wires.

I'll just let it be, the truck is running fine and I don't really have a problem with it. I did try turning the radio completely off and the turn signals still make the gauge fluctuate.
