Default Stereo malfuntion. No power

I have a 93 dakota sport. A few months ago i installed a Sony CD player with a scosche wiring harness. Everything worked perfectly till a few days ago. I was driving down the road listening to music then, poof. It shut off completely. I took the deck out and checked all the connections. Grounded good and everything. They are all fine. I even took the factory radio and plugged it up and got no power. The only thing i noticed that id never seen before is, over on the passenger side, looking up under the dash toward the back of the cd player, there is a solid black wire and a solid orange wire that come together to this weird looking connector. It was hanging down and id never seen it before. I dont know if thats the problem or not but i thought id mention it. Ive also checked all fuses they are fine. Im clueless. Any ideas? I'll try to attack a picture of the mystery connector.

The harness looks like a light bulb socket.

Are you sure you checked all fuses? There are 2 for the radio 1 under the dash 1 under the hood. Triple check them, replace them just in case.

I checked the one under the dash. Which fuse is it under the hood. Ive read around and found out that the interior dome light is curcuited with the radio and the dome light stopped working when the radio did. So it HAS to be a fuse, but they all look good. Is it the "INT LIGHT" one? the one with a clear plastic window?

Someone feels like an idiot...and its me. I was too lazy to take the fuse completely out to check it, i just looked at the top half and it looked fine....but the bottom was burnt out..wow. And yes it was the fuse that festerw mentioned. Thanks to both of you and to this great forum for fast and accurate responses. I think ill go listen to my CD player now..after i put it back together. >:|

I did the same thing on my work truck. turn signal went out and no one could figure out why until someone mentioned they might have a SECOND fuse under the hood, not just the fuse and flasher in the dash.
