Question Electrical problem -_-

So last night i'm about to head back home and right as I go to turn my head lights on the lights on my dash will not come on. Normally I just need to knock the dash and they come right now....but this time nothing and all the needles are stuck at zero....Like i'm going zero mph my RPM is zero...well you get the drift and even the thing that counts my miles is stuck...the only lights that will stay on are both my blinkers at the same time.....once I turn my headlights off then everything works again...but it was 12am and I needed my headlights to see.....Yes this has happened before 3 times and every time its supposedly gotten "fixed" yet happens again...i'm pretty sure its my time to go take a look and try to fix it myself so I know its actually fixed...just wondering if anyone has had this same problem and could help me out in any way before I go searching in my truck and messing up other stuff in the process lol

I ran into a similar problem, it ended being my headlight switch. I had no lights at all when my head lights were on. Replacing that switch gave me my dash lights again. Try that and see what happens.
